U.S. Patent Office approves multiple patent claims from Helix BioMedix

Helix BioMedix, Inc. (OTCBB: HXBM), a developer of bioactive peptides, today announced the United States Patent and Trademark Office has allowed multiple claims in one of the company’s recent patent applications. US patent application 12/005653, “Short Bioactive Peptides for Cellular and Immunological Modulation,” covers a number of peptides including Heptapeptide-7, a SmartPeptides™ technology and lead component in the Striking™ Skin Care line. The patent is expected to issue shortly.

NIMS’ Exer-Rest acceleration therapeutic platform awarded Japanese patent

Non-Invasive Monitoring Systems, Inc. announced that the Nogawa Patent Office in Japan issued Patent number 4391595 to NIMS on October 16, 2009. This patent, entitled “Reciprocating Movement Platform for Shifting Subject To and Fro In Headwards-Footwards Direction,” relates to the comprehensively researched technology underlying NIMS’ Exer-Rest acceleration therapeutic platform.

Precision BioSciences: EPO revokes Cellectis’ European Patent No. EP 1485475

Yesterday, the European Patent Office (EPO) revoked previously granted claims of Cellectis’ European Patent No. EP 1485475 during an oral hearing in an opposition proceeding initiated by Precision BioSciences. As a result of the opposition, Cellectis’ previously granted claims to single-chain meganucleases, including those derived from I-CreI, were revoked in their entirety. Claims to hybrid meganucleases were cancelled or severely restricted.

European Patent Office upholds Cellectis' EP 1 485 475 patent

Cellectis S.A., the French genome engineering specialist, has announced that the European Patent Office has today upheld European Patent EP 1 485 475 owned by Cellectis and relating to the invention of engineering methods for meganucleases. This method is based on the genetic fusion of meganuclease modules to obtain hybrid meganucleases.

AvidBiotics granted U.S. and European patents concerning its DGR technology platform

AvidBiotics Corp. announced the issuance of foundational patents encompassing a completely novel mechanism for generating massive diversity within precisely targeted sites of protein-encoding DNA sequences. The technology platform is referred to as Diversity Generating Retroelements (DGR) and patents were issued in both the United States (#7,585,957) and in Europe (#1,173,995). LecTec settles patent litigation dispute with Endo Pharmaceuticals

LecTec Corporation (OTCBB: LECT) announced today that it has reached a settlement with Endo Pharmaceuticals Inc. on outstanding patent litigation related to LecTec’s U.S. Patent Nos. 5,536,263 and 5,741,510. Endo Pharmaceuticals has agreed to make a one–time, $23 million payment for the exclusive license to these two patents for use in the field of prescription pain medicines and treatment.
